Blunde's Disease: The Plague of Witshire
'Blunde’s hit Firwether outrageously bad that year, and a man by the name of Phil Maeverie had the bright idea to make batches and batches of this tea and dump it in the lake for a mass cure… except he didn’t account for the algae blooms that year and the Mizuno in the tea reacted poorly with them.'
Blunde's disease, also known as the Witshirian Plague, is a sickness that affects the people of the continent of Witshire whenever the ever-changing labyrinth connecting the continent to Nightshire shifts into a certain position. The sickness tends to crop up around every 400 years, as old Floren magic from deep inside the labyrinth rises from the labyrinth entrances.
All Witshirian people, excluding those possessing the Labyrinthus parasite and those of pure Nightshirian ancestry are weak to this sickness which originates from within the labyrinth but can spread person-to-person once the initial symptoms begin. The Nightshirian people are immune due to the buildup of Mizuno in their system, a plant with magical properties which is one of the main things they eat, and which has protective abilities that can be passed down to their children. Labyrinthites are immune because the very nature of their Labyrinthus originates from the same entity as old Floren magic.
